Liberation PoV Character #1: Dom

Hey everyone! I'm back, bringing you the first PoV character in my novel! Meet Dominic "Dom" Miles:

Dom, as drawn by my friend Maddy Pisio

Dom is Angelborne. He's the first PoV character you'll meet.

Now, before I talk more about Dom himself, there's something you should know about Angelbornes and Daemonbornes. Both Heaven and Hell have taken countermeasures to avoid being like the third force I mentioned earlier. For the first 16 years of one's life, he or she is completely human. They are born to human parents (however they do have supernatural parents as well), raised as humans, and believe that they are humans. Their bodies are completely human as well. For all intents and purposes, they are human.

Now, the 16th birthday is key. On the 16th birthday, the first change takes place. This change is simple, minuscule, and yet at the same time extremely important.

After this first change, a few weeks of rapid transformation occur, called Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis has many stages:
-Physical (obvious, the bodies begin changing)
-Mental (the strength of the brain increases rapidly)
-Spiritual

The Spiritual stage is the last and final stage. It's also, in some ways, the most important. Spiritual Metamorphosis is simultaneously exactly as it sounds, and also a bit more than that. Firstly, during Spiritual Metamorphosis, the soul is changed into the soul of an Angelborne or a Daemonborne, depending on which nature the true mother had. However, they also receive their Graces. Think of the Grace as being similar to a class in a video game. It simultaneously gives them specific skill sets and a specific role they must play in Heaven or Hell.

Dom's Metamorphosis takes place throughout the book, which provides a nice internal struggle: dealing with the rapid change in his body. Think of it like puberty on steroids.

Anyways, at the beginning, Dom is human, and he's definitely not angelic. In fact, if it wasn't for his heavenly parents, he'd probably be going to Hell when he dies. You see, Dom is a stereotypical overly-popular, partying, bullying jock. To sum it up, he's a jerk. He even has some pretty serious skeletons in the closet, but you'll have to read the book to find those out (I know, I'm terrible).

Early on, Dom gets forced into this world, and plot-ish stuff ensues.

Come back later tomorrow to meet the second PoV character!

~Cas
